This is a solid, open-world/sandbox adventure game that involves plundering towns/ships, searching for hidden treasures, dancing with governors' daughters, earning ranks, etc.. All this is quite fun in the beginning, but falls apart after awhile. I would compare this game to Assassin's Creed, where you repeat the 5 or so types of missions over and over again. After the first few hours, you realize that you must repeat the same types of missions in order to progress through the story. I have only completed 4 out of 25 or so key objectives for the main story. Each objective involves a series of sub-missions (as described above). You cannot skip around in the objectives as they unlock only after you complete them in sequence.
For $9.99 it's a good deal, but be warned that it will get monotous quickly. There are definitely better titles out there for the PSP.Get more detail about Sid Meier's Pirates.
