I picked up Untold Legends because a friend of mine who I used to play Champions II with told me it was the same thing. It really is, and this is not a bad thing at all. It is an interesting adaptation of it, done very well on a portable. As many reviews have said it is incredibly alike to Diablo 2 or Fate. If storyline is a major factor in your decision, I would not suggest this. I can remember a multitude of areas and regions, but absolutely none of the story. If you have never played the afore mentioned games then let me tell you that this is frankly like a glorified Flash Adventure. This is actually a very good thing, the gameplay is simple but very enjoyable and the graphics are pretty good as well, considering how early this was released.
