MLB 08: The Show Decide Now

MLB 08 the show is really a remarkable game. It has the quality and presentation of a high end PS2 game while being portable. For anyone who has played almost any DS sports game, you know just how dreadful portable sports gaming can be.

It has a solid season mode which goes up to 162 games and allows full control, right down to mound visits and bullpen warmups. In addition to the solid baseball, there is the Road to the Show mode in which you create your player and guide them through the important parts of their career (essentially ABs and defensive plays they are involved with.

It is in the Road to the Show mode that some of the control quirks become more irritating. While baserunning in fairly intuitive in a regular game, when you control your man in the career mode, it is a chore. He'll stop and stutter for seemingly no reason, this leads to more than your fair share of pickoffs and baserunning mistakes. They will also occasionally run right through the base and continue to go, even if there is no reason to.

Further complicating matters is the fielding controls which switch viewpoints and then the buttons required to throw to a certain base. This is managable after a few games, but for that first bit, it is incredibly irritating to try and turn a double play and throw home instead.

Despite these flaws, it delievers a solid package of baseball which won't disappoint you.Get more detail about MLB 08: The Show.
